Gender justice, workplace safety, compliance with POSH Act, research & advocacy
Sexual harassment remains a critical concern in the garment industry, particularly for women workers. Fair Wear Foundation commissioned IRFT to conduct an in-depth research study assessing the implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, with a specific focus on the effectiveness of Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs).
1
Assess the implementation of the POSH Act in garment factories
2
Evaluate the functioning and effectiveness of ICCs
3
Identify gaps in grievance redressal mechanisms
4
Generate evidence to support advocacy and systemic improvements
IRFT conducted sensitive, worker-centric research, engaging directly with women workers to understand their lived experiences. The study combined qualitative insights with structural analysis of ICC processes, confidentiality mechanisms, and reporting systems.
